"At the end of the day, it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished…it’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back." – Denzel Washington
These words serve as inspiration as Olea South Africa kicked off its community involvement project as a proud sponsor and partner of the RADA MiPad initiative for the second year. This initiative provides re-usable sanitary towels to learners who previously missed days of school due to lack of access to sanitary wear.
OLEA South Africa and RADA representatives with Charity Mthethwa, Deputy Principal – Philene Primary School
At Olea South Africa, we are passionate about education and delighted to be able to help the young learners at Philene Primary School stay in school. Our participation in the MiPad project is a catalyst for transformative change. It ensures that numerous young learners, who previously missed many school days during their menstrual periods for lack of sanitary wear, can now attend school during this time.
Representatives of Olea South Africa spent the morning of the 27 August with the Grade 7’s at the Philene Primary School, Olievenhoutbos. They assisted the RADA team in handing out MidiPads to all the learners. See our team in action: youtu.be/ooGUc1lGI2I
Melanie le Roux, Olea Group Communication & Marketing Director says, ‘It was a privilege to spend time talking to these young learners and discussing the importance of staying in school. We are very proud that by providing access to MidiPads we could help facilitate this. We are proud to be part of the team making a difference”.
The visit included an instructional video, which demonstrates how to wear the RADA MiPad and how it should be washed. RADA then spoke to the learners to ensure they are always given the opportunity to raise questions. Feedback forms were at the school for the girls to complete and were then collected by RADA. This feedback provides invaluable information in terms of product quality and efficacy.
